
RISE AND SHINE CARE - STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of Rise and Shine Care Limited is to provide domiciliary home care workers to Service Users in their own homes and to assist and support individuals in promoting health, in its broadest sense and maintaining or improving independence.
It aims to provide a focused value for money domiciliary home care available service within North Somerset that is reliable and responsive to Service Users' needs and preferences. Rise and Shine Care aim to foster an atmosphere of care and support which both enables and encourages Service Users to live as full, interesting and independent a lifestyle as possible with the scope and duration of our service provision being kept to a minimum, in line with an agreed plan of care.
To ensure that at all times, services are provided and comply with the requirements regulated by The Care Quality Commission with particular reference to the arrangements for the provision of personal care and staffing respectively.
This statement sets out Rise and Shine Care’s aims and objectives, philosophy of care and range of provision to our service users.
THE NATURE OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED
The principle activity in which Rise and Shine Care Limited is involved is the supply of domiciliary home care workers to people in their own homes. The services provided are for adults over 18 years of age and for older vulnerable people. The prime focus is the provision of support to enable people to continue living as independent a life as possible in their own homes.
A range of services is provided for Service Users within the following groups:
q Older People
q People with Dementia
q Adults with Mental Health Problems
q Adults with Physical Disabilities
q Adults with Sensory Impairment
q Adults with Terminal Illness
q Adults who are Ill (other than Terminal Illness)
Rise and Shine Care aim to meet the objectives of this level of service by providing on-going training and regular supervision of staff.
Personal Care includes;
Basic tasks
q Assisting service users to get up and/or to go to bed
q Dressing and undressing
q Personal hygiene - Toileting, washing, bathing, shaving, hair care and oral hygiene
q Assistance with eating and drinking and dealing with dietary needs
q Continence Management
q Enabling Service Users to access and use toilet facilities including changing of catheter bags
q Application of creams/ointments
q Pressure Area Care
q Caring for the terminally ill
q Sitting Services
Practical Care Tasks include;
q Making or changing a Service Users' bed
q Emptying Commodes
q Shopping for Service Users
q Paying Service User's bills
q Collecting Service Users' pensions
q Assistance with Service Users' laundry
q Preparing Service User's meals
q Lighting fires for Service Users'
q Assistance with Service Users' Pets
q Vacuum Cleaning
q Light domestic tasks - Washing dishes, dusting, cleaning of toilets and bathrooms etc.
Tasks Not Allowed
q Bowel Evacuation
q Changing Sterile Dressings
q Performing Catheterization
q Giving Injections
q Cutting nails
q Administering Suppositories
q Administering Enemas
q Lifting from Floor Unaided
q Ear Syringing
q Administering medication
q Intensive domestic tasks such as: cleaning windows, shampooing of carpets, scrubbing of floors and/or moving of heavy objects
All of the above services are provided by Care Workers making personal visits at agreed times to meet the needs of the Service User and their chosen life style. The visit can vary in length from 15 minutes to one or more hours. One or more visits can be made throughout the day on one day or up to seven days per week, following an assessment of need that will identify the services required. Rise and Shine endeavour to maintain the safety and security of the work environment and therefore any assessments will be subject to Health and Safety regulations.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE DELIVERY OF CARE
In order to be able to deliver care Rise and Shine Care Limited has developed an organizational structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities and a range of Policies and Procedures that set out its aims and objectives and method of operation. These policies cover the delivery of care from the initial referral through to the review of the care package provided to the Service User that encompasses the following.
The person responsible for the process from initial referral through to re-assessment of need is the Senior Carer in conjunction with the Manager.
